In the deep moral abyss of the ‘expenses scandal’, the nation mourns the falling from grace of those posh-nosh-munching loveable rogues. Ooh don’t you just want to ruffle their flouncy hair, those cheeky munchkins. Stealing our money, all the while laden with rhetoric with a reassuring nod and smile, hands outreached for our votes- our trust- our pockets.

The organization Al-Hidayah recently uploaded the speeches of the Milaad Festival 2008, which was held in Rotterdam (Holland). The main speaker was the respected Shaykh Ahmed Ba'biker (Abu Bakr As-sudani). They say that the venerable Abraham would absolutely never sit down to a meal unless either a poor man or a guest was invited to join him at his table. He had vowed to make this his rule. Abraham, the special friend of Allah, was pleased to receive any number of guests and had made it his custom always to share his meal with at least one guest or needy person. He had even vowed not to sit at a table for up to a month, should no guests come. It once happened that over a month went by without a guest turning up at his house.
