Snoop Dogg - Nation of Islam

Well, as I had nothing to do last night, I was surfing on the internet untill I came across something and felt like sharing with you. Snoop Dogg, a rapper who is a major part in making rap as it is today, joined the religious movement Nation of Islam.

Louis Farrakhan, the former leader of Nation of Islam, delivered a speech where Snoop Dogg was present on stage. During the speech by Louis Farrakhan, Snoop Dogg was asked whether he had any connection with this movement or not. Snoop Dogg replied: "I am already in the Nation. That is why I am here."

Right after the end, Calvin Broadus (real name of Snoop Dogg), praised the speech which was delivered by Farrakhan. Broadus let the attendees acknowledge that he experienced the speech "as a mirror". Although, Snoop Dogg replied in relatively loose terms when he was asked what the reasons are of joining this group.

Snoop Dogg: " I'm an advocate for peace. I've been in the peace movement ever since I've been making music. My whole thing is not about really trying to push my thing on you. It's just about the way I live, and I live how I'm supposed to live as far as doing what's right and representing what's right. That's why I was here today."

Couple of months before these beautiful sayings, Snoop Dogg said: "I've been smoking so much green grass I wanted to do a bluegrass album." Whatsoever 'living my life like I'm supposed to live as far as doing what's right and representing what's right' is concerned, I've got a little doubt in that. But don't worry, he has a good heart, because out of the estimated 200 million dollar which he posseses, he donated 1 thousand dollar to the organization.

But, at the end of the day, all that counts is that his intentions were good and I do believe that they were good, which is the most important bit. Don't you think?

    Are you being sarcastic here...

I think Azeem meant it in another way.
If Snoop claims to be what he claims to be, then 1000 is nothing compared to 200.000.000.
He could be bit more generous, don't you think so ?

    Similar scenario:
we've got $10.000 in our bank and we only donate $1 out of that.

    What'd u say?

Or is this all to make him look a better person? After all the nasty stuff he's been doing to make all that money? And believe me, am not talking about 'Rap'.

Maybe we shouldn't focus so much on how much Calvin B donated..isn't the important thing that money was given for a good cause??

Why is this in a blog about Muslims?

The Nation of "Islam" arent Muslims - they hold beliefs that completely nullify Islam such as believeing in a Prophet after the Prophet Muhammed sallAllahu alayhi wasalaam and that Allah came down to earth in the form of a human (audhobillah)

How could Snoop Dogg know which organization is best to join?
I do agree with you that NOI is wrong, but Snoop Dogg doesn't know that these people are wrong whatsoever Islam is concerned.
He joined a group, from which he believed that they're Muslims.
This article is mentioning that Snoop Dogg joined a religious group, which group he joined, is not the important point.
But I do totally agree with you about NOI.
MIE doesn't support NOI in NO way!

You made a mockery out of his intentions by sarcastically pointing out he donated 1000 euro.
