Hidden Chapter of History

If we delve into the history book of Islam we find that there are many vibrant and glorious chapters celebrating the great achievements of Muslims in the past in regards to what we would call ‘contemporary’ sciences such as Mathematics, Chemistry and Astronomy. We have great scientists, scholars and experts such as Al-Ghazali, Ibn Haytham, Ibn Sina and many others. There is no doubt that as Muslims we hold a rich and prosperous heritage pertaining to every field of knowledge and education, whether it is religious knowledge or secular. Poem

What is this world but a gigantic tide – people come and go like a passing ride

Reminisce into the time – an endless sphere of moments gone by. Words spoken and unspoken – the actions outlive shaping the coming time for you and I.

Doubt, hesitation and a moment lost – all the lingering of a distant past. What was yesterday is not today and what is today will not last.

So uncertain is the nature of time known to us – one moment bliss, next moment chaos...

Small Kindnesses

I’d like to think I’m a good person, having all the personality gems – kindness, generosity, compassion and love for all. But it’s rather easy to perceive myself in such a glorified light when I am my own judge and jury. I mean I’m not going to be too hard on myself; after all I do my best – I don’t go around blowing rings of smoke in people’s faces, nor do I have a loud annoying laugh that deafens the public! I don’t bully innocent folk, blow up buses or incite any sort of hatred. So it’s quite reasonable to say that I am well and truly on the safe side when it comes to being ‘humanely qualified'. Right?...

…Wrong! After much quarrelling and bantering between the goody-two-shoes adorable angel and the fiery red devil within me - the imagery of my conscience and ego, I am left with no option than to side with the little angel, much to the anger of the opponent who is furiously sulking away in defeat. Spring Sensations

The wings of a butterfly glistening in the sun, light rain pouring on the face simultaneously with the sun offering a warm hug, the beautiful pink blossoms in the trees covering the ground as they gently fall, turning the world into a beautiful pink carpet…spring is here yet again and these are just some of the spring sensations that I love so much in this gorgeous season. Subhan’Allah the nature that surrounds us is a perfect illustration of the manifest beauty of our Great Creator.

The brightness of the yellow in a daffodil or the sweet prettiness of the red rose – the beauty of nature can leave one in utter awe and amazement as the heart finds peace, tranquillity and happiness as such not found elsewhere, when absorbing such delightful visions which we constantly take for granted and not care to give a second thought to.

Joys of Pregnancy

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Salamah – the nurse of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace be upon him) – said: "O Messenger of Allah. You give tidings of all the good to the men and you don't give tidings to the women." He said, "Did your female companions induce you to [ask] this?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Will one of you not be pleased that when she is pregnant from her husband and he is pleased with her that she has a reward like the reward of the one who fasts and prays in the way of Allah? Then when she is in labour, none of the people of the heavens or the earth know what is hidden for her of [pleasures,] soothing to her eyes. And when she delivers, no mouthful of milk flows from her nor a [child's] suck except that she has a reward with every mouthful and with every suck. And if [her child] keeps her awake during the night, she has a reward similar to the reward of freeing seventy slaves for the sake of Allah." Continue reading "Joys of Pregnancy"...
