Smiling. It's not just a sunnah, it's a way of life

Bismillah, in the name of Allah,

I set myself a humongous task of being positive, smiling more and exuding happy vibes to the world around me. Out with the misanthrope attitude, in with the Little Miss Sunshine.

After spending three hours on packing the last envelopes and glueing down labels for Eidy gifts, I threw on a headscarf and waited at the bus stop for fabulous public transport to post it all. I forced myself today to be extra nice to people, 'I will be nice', yep. I psyched myself to interacting with the commoners and helping more too. Smiles are infectious so I figured that's the first thing I could attack people with. It's a sunnah. A sunny-sunnah. A smiley-sunny-sunnah... Alright, I'll stop. Continue reading "Smiling. Kyrgyzstan’s War With Itself

Civil war escalates as groups fight for power

Clashes between Kyrgyz and Uzbek residents in the cities of Osh and Jalalabad began on the 10th June and escalated over the weekend. The number of refugees fleeing the ‘ethnic violence’ may soon rise to 100,000, a US envoy said on Tuesday.

Last Days - Day 25 + 26

Bismillah, in the name of Allah

My Facebook status today reads 'The Holiness is radiating online... I hope to see all you Ramadan troupers afterwards, with the Ramadan'ing determination. Who says it has to end?'

Yesterday, day 25, I took to be being lethargic and left out many obligations. They came to hit in me the head after.

Words of wisdom: When people say do now what you shouldn't put off till tomorrow, there is a strong truth in them.

Punctuality for salah, determination for social etiquette towards the other gender, remembering Allah has a greater plan for you and the answers just around the corner. So there's no reason to panic just because the days are ending. Ramadan is leaving us, but we do not need to leave the Ramadan attitude. Or am I being naive and talking about idealistic lands... ? It's the Ram'dan Countdown! - Day 23

Bismillah, in the name of Allah

Suhoor: included a cereal bar, a few spare gingerbread men, a found and stolen packet of Cadbury's chocolate clusters, lots of water and dates. I started a date fan club a few years ago, I wonder if I could revive that membership? Who's with me? you'll receive a date fan club badge, monthly newsletter and prize draws of trips to date-land and date treasure hunt! -proudly shows off badge- Continue reading "It's the Ram'dan Countdown! - Day 23 "...

Eid Songs - Day 22

Bismillah, in the name of Allah.

I like singing. I will sing for every occasion be it joyous or mundane. I didn't say I was any good at it, nor kind to the ears, but sing I will so help me Allah.

During Ramadan I have made extra effort to surprise people with a few lines, a verse, or an ancient poem sung to some unfitting tune. It's much fun, try it. Continue reading "Eid Songs - Day 22 "...

Catch up with Zaufishan - Days 19-22

Bismillah, in the name of Allah.
As'salamualaykum, peace be with you, avid fans of Muslims In England and members of my cult, I've been absent for a few days and therefore rant in one breath of the happenings I took part in:

Iftar packs © - Day 19

I spent all day making Iftar Packs. I couldn't get around to writing about it as I was exhausted. Therefore it's here in one post. Continue reading "Catch up with Zaufishan - Days 19-22"...

Hot Men - Day 23

Bismillah, in the name of Allah. As'salamualaykumings people, how are you all? Freaked out about the fastness of Ramadan? Yeah, same here. The twenty-third fast went straight past me and all I remember is the break of dawn on fast number one. -sigh- Well today was eventful for I; and it went a little like this... Ramadan Breath - Day 18

Today I did the unthinkable and woke up a couple of hours late. You can never predict the catastrophic consequences of mussing up the natural disorder that I live in... One, two hour re-alignment and like a domino effect, things come crashing down.

It hit 2.30pm and I remembered I had a dentist appointment but was unsure of the time. It was that 6 monthly check up the dentists obligate so I wasn't worried; I'd forgotten the time though so literally rummaged through my box-case like a hobo. Continue reading "Ramadan Breath - Day 18"...

Fasting Women vs. Fasting Men - Day 17

Bismillah

A breakdown of today's events to get it out of the way:

Suhoor - I finally had a Pakistani 'piratha' (I hope I've phonetically spelled that right). The brothers I know have been competing about who can eat more in an Indian meal, and I wanted a piece of the pie - um... 'piratha'. Piratha's are heart-patients' death food, they are traditional 'roti' corrupted with full fat butter or oil on both sides AND within to morph the traditional 'roti' into a cholesterol raising crispy fat gorgeous buttery demise. I could only eat half of one. Dates, water and tropical fruit juice as a side dish. Continue reading "Fasting Women vs. Fasting Men - Day 17 "...

Kaffir Road - Day 16

BismIllah, in the name of Allah.

When you're fasting and trying to reduce those negative habits embedded in you, the words 'disbeliever', 'punishment' and 'hell' resonate in the mind a lot. Continue reading "Kaffir Road - Day 16"...
