Salaam,

we apologize that MIE wasn't online yesterday. That's because some people saw the potential in MIE and hacked it. But no problem, along with our Dutch colleagues we got the site back up online.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused, and it won't happen again.
Old news it may be but on Wednesday 30th June 2010 the Methodist Church voted to boycott Israeli goods - specifically highlighting those grown on illegal settlements, on land stolen from the Palestinians in the ever-growing Israeli trend of expansion.

Now, when I first read this I was at once excited, proud, worried and disappointed; Excited because this was another step towards justice for the Palestinians and a triumph for the growing movement: Proud because they had taken this momentous step, had the courage and morals to do so: Worried because of the backlash they would inevitably experience from the usual either ignorant, or brainwashed, or propaganda spewing individuals: And disappointed because we as a Muslim community have yet to take such a step en masse.

MWF UK brings to you an event that you will remember for life.

We have organised a Tandem Skydive, a tandem skydive is a parachute dive out of a plane whilst you are attached to an instructor. The instructor controls the dive to ensure that you have a safe landing.

All income generated from this project will be spent on charitable projects to support the development of orphans.

This is one of the highest dives in the country [only in Hibaldstow]; all others jump from 10,000ft.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

You will have to raise £400 [£50 Deposit payable at time of registration + £350 raised] through sponsorships from your friends, relatives and associates.

It may feel like a huge figure but you will be given help and advice based on tried and tested fundraising techniques.

OTHERS WHO DID IT!

This article was sent-in by Aishah Iqbal. Aishah Iqbal is a guest-writer on Muslimsinengland.com
So, I want to be a good practising Muslim and Insh’Allah obtain my place in Jannat. To do this I will follow the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. I will believe that there is no God but Allah and Muhammed (PBUH) was his messenger. Simple, right? After all Islam is MEANT to be a simple religion. So why does it become so hard? Why do we have to constantly battle with everyone and everything around us to try and follow the teachings of our religion?

This battle I talk of is, surprisingly, not about the battle of living in a non-Muslim country. In fact, this fight many of us encounter constantly is between Islam and Culture. It really should not exist, but sadly it does. Cultural customs often clash with Islamic teachings, yet many still abide by these customs. Often when people are asked ‘what are you?’ they will answer with their cultural background: Pakistani, Somalian, Moroccan, Bengali and so on. Should we not simply be saying ‘I am a Muslim’?
Continue reading "Let Me be Me!"

    Virtues of Ramadan
Abu Hurayrah RA narrates that The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "One who keeps the fast of Ramadhaan with Imaan (faith) and longing for reward, all his previous sins are forgiven." (Bukhari)

Abu Hurayrah RA reports that our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, said, 'Allah says, 'Every deed of Ibne Aadam (son of Aadam) is for him, except for fast. Verily, fasting is for me, and I shall (personally) apportion out the reward for it."' It is further said, "For a fasting person, there are two pleasures, which please him. When he eats upon completing the fast, he becomes happy, and when he will meet his Lord he will be pleased due to his fast." (Bukhari)
Abdullah Ibn `Amr Ibn al-`Aas RA reported that the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said: "Indeed there is for the fasting person, when he breaks his fast, a supplication which is not rejected". (Ibn Majah)

The Prophet SAW said "Whoever establishes prayers during the nights of Ramadan (and that is called Qiyam) faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not for showing off), all his past sins will be forgiven." [Bukhari]

Sahl Ibne Sa'd radhiyallahu anhu narrates that The Prophet SAW said, "Verily! In Jannah, there is a door called ‘Ar Rayyaan’, through which will enter the fasting people on the Day of Judgement. No one will enter through this door besides them. It will be announced, 'Where are the fasting people?' They will stand (and enter). No one will enter besides them. Once they will enter, the door will be locked so no one can enter through it (after them)." (Bukhari)

According to a report published there are 1.57 Billion Muslims around the world, which means that 1 in 4 people practices Islam. This is definitely a 'Muslim' Boom!

For many years, the size of the Muslim population has been under constant overview, with estimations running the gamut anywhere from 1 Billion to 1.8 Billion. The report was from Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life is the most thorough and varied of its type. It's taken them, approximately, 3 years to remove the curtain from this matter.

There is one food I have been desperately avoiding during Ramadan: humble pie. It’s sharp and bitter like taking a swig at battery acid. I can smell it cooking in the air when I think I'm 'more right' and I don’t look forward to being reminded of it. Sometimes I feel my ego is so big it needs its own postal code. Days 6 to 17 during Ramadan have been a huge “light-bulb” realisation that a Muslim with the best character has humility, they have humbleness. And while in Ramadan the halal has become temporarily haram and the haram has become even more haram, we should discipline ourselves to accept that and taste the humility it brings.

Continue reading "Ramadan Journal 2010: Day 17 How to be Humble"
